National Forest

The spot is in an OHV area but it also has lots of hiking and biking and quite low use with beautiful views of tall mountains and mass of Aspen grooves.

Hope Valley

Another great spot on the meadow. Hike out to the creek, UTV up the fireroad. No cell but good starlink visibility.

Quiet spot on water two miles off the main highway. One other group here when we got her but lots of flat spots to park with overnight allowed free. No signs to indicate otherwise and forest land. Bathroom available onsite. Good road in. Very little washboard.

Quiet river front in gardnerville

Easy stop right off 395 with nice road down to the river. The entrance is not completely level but doable with an RV. Lots of spots to park. Forest land with no No Parking signs. No cell signal so bring your Starlink.

Pit River Road

We needed a stop between Bend and Reno and found this road on the map that looked like it might work. It was actually amazing! It's a public road that cuts through private property (like 1000 acres called Bushey Ranch), but we met the owner (pretty sure his name was Bob Bushey, or maybe Mike) and he was extremely welcoming. He actually puts on a yearly moto race (https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/09-28-bushey-ranch-cc-tr-vmx-ahrma-608844) and said we could stop here any time. II wouldn't hesitate to stop here again. It's also on the edge of National Forest. The road was decent gravel with a very large turn around where we parked. Watched the bucks graze in the field at sunset. There is also a biking trail further up the road that we didn't get to check out.

San Ignacio, Baja

Camp on Laguna San Ignacio. $250 pesos (basically free) in San Ignacio, Baja Sur. First camping on left when you turn off the hwy for San Ignacio town. Waterfront.... paddle up to the warm springs.

Salmon Falls Creek Resovoir

Great Campsite right on the lake. We went in the summer and were one of two rigs total. One mile washboard road off the highway gets you right on the lake, bumpy but manageable in any rig. Mostly un-level ground but we were able to level out with jacks in our 30' RV.

Pinyon Trailhead

A couple miles on a dirt road but great mountain bike loop on BLM. Easy access for big rig with nice flat spot. Hundreds dog miles of single track for dirt bikes right there.

Buckskin Mountain

Very nice, full access campground, friendly hosts, and clean bathrooms with showers. Car camping friendly with a fire pit and picnic table. Beautiful view on the river .

Salton Sea

Spent a night at the Salton Sea car camping in winter. Stayed in the back so as not to hear the train as bad. RV sites closer to the water would hear and feel the train coming through regularly.

Oak Grove

Oak Grove Campground, San Diego County. Car camping but sites are large and spread out. Full time host is friendly and has lived there for years.

Santee Coastal Reserve

8 free sites in established sites in the Santee Coastal Reserve. 4 night stay limit. Fire pits and picnic tables. No garbage, water of facilities. Nice areas to hike. Quiet. Be aware there is active hunting so wear appropriate orange clothing.

Kicco Spoil Equestrian Campsite

Spoil Campsite, offered by the South Florida Water Management District, is a no-cost, developed campground within the KICCO Wildlife Management Area. Blue Lakes Rd

Free camping, in the middle of beautiful mountains and streams; right along the headwaters of the Carson River. Lots of options for parking in this serene meadow. About 5 miles up the road from 88 so not quick access but if you're looking for serenity this is it. Paved road all the way there. The entrance is a little tricky in a large rig (mine is 38 feet). Doable but I had to back down the entrance and then back out again because the turn was a little tight. Totally doable in any smaller rig. There is a gate that closes the road in the winter, but this is a really great spot in the summer with access to the amazing Blue Lakes just up the road.

Hope Valley Meadow

Tons of spots in this great dispersed camping location. At the base of the mountains in the Sierras, Hope Valley is a wide open meadow with the headwaters of the Carson river flowing through it. There are old roads that lead up to Scott Lake from the campspots that lead to tons of world class biking and hiking trails in the South Lake Tahoe area. Beautiful meadow views. Closed in the winter due to snow.

Bluffs Trailhead Eagle Colorado

Super fun biking trails on BLM land, with flat spot for parking RV overnight. Kind of steep going up but doable in a large rig. Turn around large enough for my 38 footer but I wouldn't recommend trying with a trailer. Great stop off of Highway 70. Lots of options further up bellyache road but it’s a little washboardy so probably not great for a big rig. Smaller camper vans for sure.

Moab La Sal spot

Nice spot for a higher clearance rig like a Sprinter or 4x4 camper. Beautiful views of the canyons and La Sals above Moab. On the main dirt road that leads up to the La Sal Mountain Range. Very convenient.

Red Grade Trail System

Great large lots for parking. Used as snowmobile parking in the winter but empty in the summer months. Really fun biking and hiking trail network. A little outside of Sheridan, WY.

Chico Flats

Free despersed camping with nice views of the valley, mountains, and near the Kern River. Great fishing next to the Flume Rapid.

Nice spot with lots of dispersed camping around. Little waterfall section to soak in. Water is lukewarm but comfortable to get in.

Teton Views to die for

Quiet and incredible views of the river and Tetons beyond. Great free camping just outside the park.

Water Canyon Disc Golf Course

Beautiful view overlooking Winnemucca. Lots of spots to pull out with a well maintained road that is very easy for large RVs. It's mostly paved except for the last mile or so. Fun little disc golf course up to wake up to. Although, watch out for the creek! Hard to retrieve your discs if they go rogue.
